SCOTLAND FOREVERRRRR
Our Scotland trip is a DUCC involving a week of beatering around
the west Highlands of celt country, as well as eating haggis (anticlockwise
only) and having an all round “braw” time. This trip is open for paddlers
who have been committed to whitewater this academic year; so ideal for
anyone who came to refreshers!
Please note: Due to the nature of Scottish rivers (occasionally
tricksie…) and British weather (always unreliable), there will likely be
some days where some, or all, participants don’t paddle. We will try and
minimise this but, when it becomes inevitable, we will help facilitate
alternative activities/entertainment. For example, there is a climbing wall in Fort
William, or many nice highland walks in the area. If you are a massive neek, you
can also do some uni work in the bunkhouse. Please bear this in mind when you
are packing.
The Plan:
Meet at the boat house at 9am on Saturday, aim to leave at
10. Drive to Fort William, likely stopping half way to do a river/parkandplay.
We will then spend the week hunting water and hopefully
paddling/swimming some Scottish classics. The accommodation has beds showers, (dodgy)
wifi, and a drying room - so no need to perform self torture putting on wet kit
each morning!
On Friday we will leave the accommodation and begin driving
south, again hopefully doing a river on the way home.
Costs:
As with any DUCC trip we try and keep costs as low as
possible. The accommodation will cost £150 each for all 6 nights (so £25 per
night). All further mileage and food costs will be calculated and added to
website debt at the end of the week.
Deposit:
Once you sign up, please pay the accommodation deposit of
£150. This is non-refundable. If you sign up and can no longer go
you will need to find someone who can take your place. If you have any difficulty in paying this up-front
please contact me (Jake) or Maddie and we can arrange for it to be paid in
stages. Please pay to the club acccount (details in the groupchat) with referance Initial+Surname+Scotland (i.e JSelwayScotland)
Kit List:
Finer details will be released once signups close, but it is
the same as for any ww trip. Bed clothes are not provided so you can
bring your own, or a sleeping bag, to sleep in.
If you have any questions or queries please send me a
message! I look forward to terrorising our sister nation with you.
Bye the now,
Jake
